I had initially planned to tack this onto the end of the workbench update, but I realized that the girls (& critters) deserved their own post. I worked on these in a couple of waves:
First off, I wanted a second archer and a bunch of wild animals for scenario play, and while I was at it, it was time to paint up the Flalhund. So in this little scene, you can see the new archer and her trusty Flalhund, facing off against a pack of wild Kanids (I added the grey and black squirrel-wolves to the red I'd already painted), while in the background, some Uhyre leave their cave at sunset... with a Mundicus lurking in the shadows.
After that, it was onto some objective markers, a VIP, and some long-awaited expansions for the cavalry:
The chests were from Spellcrow, but feel right for the fantasy theme of Shieldbash, and I'm happy with how they turned out.
The VIP is from the War of Ashes RPG miniature set, but I think she makes a pretty good senator or noblewoman for my fighters to rescue (seen here with her Fyrd escorts).
Last in this set, I have a Huscaree and a Wilddoe on Snegilback. The Huscaree will be handy for a higher-skill Leader model, and in theory I can fix two 'Vorix on a single Snegil so the skirmisher can take a rider, although how she'll drop off that person... is a little sketchy in the game rules. Saving that for a low-stakes playtest.
These were all painted last September / October I think, about a year ago. Finally, last NovemberI came back around to painting a handful of additional cavalrywomen for my Atronians:
This was while I was breaking down my office to make room for a nursery, so they were a very hurried paint job and I didn't really have a whole lot of room to set up another diorama. Here you have a mounted Glaive Guard, Virian Mother, and a mounted Priestess, in case I really want to powergame ;)
I also did another pair of grey Kanid with that wave, because why not?
This reminds me, I need to build up a pair of lists for myself & Ben for next weekend, and I should probably roll some cavalry back into the list plan so Ben has a little muscle if I'm stealing the Avatar of Atronia.
